Welcome to our home

I don't know how to get the angles to really show what it looks like, but here's my best effort at showing you what our new place looks like. There are still some things to be added and changed out, but you get the picture (hah! -- I'm so good with the puns today). Bathrooms are boring to take pictures of, so instead in the lower right I've shown you our lovely new shower curtain for the master bath.

Iceberg ahead!

This is a picture from our balcony looking east. Notice the considerable ice that has accumulated in our seriously cold temps. Imagine how surprised I was to find ice inside our apartment this morning. The bottoms of all our windows were covered in ice, so I spent the morning chipping ice away and wiping the windowsills clean. The sun is really shining today, so I suppose that precipitated (hah!) the meltdown. We haven't put up our blinds there either for several days, so I guess we just didn't notice the buildup. Warmer weather coming up though -- it's supposed to be in the 20s on Thursday and Friday!

Highs and lows

It was 102 on the day of our first wedding anniversary, and it took us 1 1/2 years to get the flip side. We could probably get a picture of a colder reading if we lived closer to a bank thermometer, but who wants to be outside these days? I've never lived anywhere before that the projected high for a day was 1 to 4 degrees Fahrenheit.

Da Bears...

...lost. But it really was fun while it lasted. Anyone who knows me at all knows I'm not much of a football fan. I think it was overexposure at a young age (or maybe a batch of undercooked hot boiled peanuts -- hard to say). But I kind of get the whole thing now. I won't ever root for a team in a town where I don't live, but I now understand the excitement of a city rooting for the same team at the same time. Thank goodness there aren't two football teams here, or it would have been October '05 all over again. It was a miracle they got as far as they did, and hey, we got a lot of great pictures out of it!
