A small Self

For those who have not already heard the news, Wes and I are expecting our first baby. We've proven to be horribly inept at keeping this news a secret until all the way to the end of the first Trimester, but we're close enough now that I feel more comfortable putting up the baby's blog. If you want to keep up with the pregnancy, link over to AD to read about it and see the first ultrasound picture. I post-dated everything as I put it up so it reflects when I actually wrote it. When the baby comes, we'll probably do like HP and have people login to read, but for now -- especially with no gender or name -- we'll leave it open.

15 Days (and counting...)

I'm going to my sister's for Spring Break during the third week of March. She and I have talked a little bit about the trip, and she mentioned a possible trip to the beach. I, of course, used that as an excuse to find a new bathing suit (I left my old one, that I really liked, in Iowa last summer). Then today I decided to check the weather to see if it's really beach weather. It's not truly, of course, but given that there's 2 inches of snow on the ground here in Chicago, upper-60s, low-70s sounds plenty warm to me.

Doctor Patient

Wes has the flu for the second time this winter. He's had a fever, congestion, upper respiratory infection, and fatigue for at least three days. He's on nights and has gone to work every shift(he's never called in sick call ever), then comes home and immediately crashes in the morning. When I left him today, he was already asleep and hadn't eaten breakfast. I hope he wakes up long enough to get something in his stomach.

I have managed to avoid catching anything from him. Indeed, the very last thing I need right now is to have the flu. After getting home from parent conferences last night at 8 PM, I put all the sheets and pillowcases in the wash to eradicate any and all remnant germs from the premises.

Hopefully he'll be on the upswing by Sunday. He's got another shift tonight but not Saturday and doesn't work until 2 PM on Sunday. So if you, too, have managed to escape this pesky flu, remember -- get your rest, tak your vitamins, and -- the widsom of the age -- drink lots of water.
