Go Girl (and Baby Boy) Go!

I just got back from doing the Chicago Wondergirl 5k Race, and I finished in a solid 26:55. Not as impressive as running it 3 days before giving birth, like Helen's mom, but not bad for me. My primary goal was to just run the whole way and not push myself so I didn't deal with lightheadedness or nausea (both of which I experienced on Memorial Day after enjoying a free hour with a trainer at my new gym -- who evidently has never worked with a pregnant woman before...). So I was really excited to see how fast I did it, especially since this run in particular involves a lot of weaving through people walking, little girls jogging slowly, strollers, and the like. I remember running this race last year, looking at the parents with their daughters, and hoping that I would have someone to run with the following year. And while he more swam it than ran it, I did :)

Play ball?

A few days ago, I came home to find this in Lucy's bed. Lucy has never been one to chew up things. There are one or two places on some furniture that she adorned with her bite marks, but she never really enjoyed chewing up shoes or the like. She does, however, occasionally carry our things to her bed for companionship, if you will. We've previously found our shoes, snow boots, and in one case, one of my mother's books and a packet of tissues (which Lucy snarked from out of her purse left unwisely on the floor unattended) -- must've been a tear-jerker -- in her bed. Wes had his glove and ball out to take with him to DC this weekend in the hopes of finding someone to "have a catch" with (his son being, as of yet, too small to engage in this pastime). Fortunately, neither the glove nor the ball were no worse for the wear. Lucy did try to start playing with the ball when I got home, so I traded her for one of her own squeaky balls.
