Now reading

So I finished Dan Brown's Angels and Demons very late Friday night/Saturday morning. I actually stayed up until 2 a.m. reading (a bad habit inherited from my mother) and then had to go to bed because I was falling asleep sitting up on the couch trying to read. So I finished the last 30 pages aroun 9:30 on Saturday morning. It was good. I have to admit that I like The Da Vinci Code better. There was something about it that was just a little more intricately crafted, but Angels and Demons has a nice web to its plot also. A definite who-dunnit with lots of cultural allusions.

As of yesterday, I am on to The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl. It's historical fiction about the original Dante club -- Longellow, Holmes (Oliver Wendell, not Sherlock), Lowell, and Greene -- and how they get involved in the murder investigation of a state surpreme court justice all while working on Longfellow's translation of Dante's Inferno. So far, so good. It hasn't gripped me, so to speak, but I'm interested. Will keep you posted (hah, hah).

From one doctor's wife to another: Hear Hear!

I still remember the day when Phill called me saying, "I'll be there in half an hour." The next phone call 45 mintues later was, "I'll be there in an hour." After two hours, I put the dinner in the fridge and went to bed. I said to myself that day, "If I marry this man, I know what I'm getting into."
