Giving back to the community

Lucy performed her first act of civic duty today by volunteering at a writing center: 826 CHI. Lucy attended a writing workshop entitled "Writing for Pets," and she, of course, was the pet. She got to play with the kids who came to write, spent some time in Reggie's crate (Reggie being one of the director's dog, who normally spends part of the day at the cneter), and then had all the kids read their stories to her. We walked out to the center, about 3 miles, and grabbed a cab back after asking a few different drivers to shuttle my "precious cargo." All in all, a full day. But she feels good about herself now at the end of it.
