Sisters, Sisters...there were never such devoted sisters

I got a package from sister in mail unexpectedly the other day. It was so exciting! I love mail, and I love packages even better, and I love pacakages I don't know are coming and that didn't cost me any money even better, so this was pretty exciting. She sent me lots of fun beginning-of-the-school-year items: Over the Hedge-movie inspired bubble bath (for when my students send me "Over the hedge!" -- we do enjoy a good pun in my house), bendy pencils, purple pens (for grading, in lieu of red), a dog toy for Lucy (though unfortunately she seems to be afraid of the high-pitched squeak), monkey pencils for Wes, Reeces Pieces (because she "loves us to pieces"), and -- my personal favorite -- the softest, pinkest socks ever. They're incredible. I love them.

This box was especially exciting for me because it's always the type of relationship I hoped I'd have. I'm the kind of person who loves to send cards and notes and flowers and packages -- unexpectedly. And I'd always hoped I'd eventually have a relationship in which that was reciprocated, because I love receiving those things too. And I do -- with my baby sister -- who should be looking out for her own box in the next few weeks (oh no, I ruined it! -- Wait, wait, it's not a doctor's kit.) Posted by Picasa
