The Three Wise Men (or wise guys?)

Today marks day three of birthday among our friends and family members. On Monday, Wes's college roommate turned 30. Yesterday, another of his college roommates turned 30. And today, Wes turned 30.

I can't speak for the other two, but Wes and I are both in shock that he (and me, in six months) is 30 years old. I mean, it makes sense. We've been out of college for eight years, out of med school for almost four, and he's about to graduate residency. We've been married for 4 1/2 years and have a baby. We're even about to move for the second time since getting married. And yet it doesn't seem like there's been enough time passed for us to be thirty.

I surprised Wes at conference today with a cake for him and his colleagues. He wasn't surprised (does anything surprise him?) but was very touched. And for his birthday present (which hopefully he'll have opened before he reads this), I got tickets to the current Second City show for a night in January -- and arranged for a babysitter so we can enjoy our first night with just the two of us since Ollie's birth.

Happy Birthday, John, Brad, and Wes. March of 1978 must have been a happy time for people :)
