Break in

Last Thursday night, Oliver came to school with me to attend an open house for our school (non-selective enrollment, but prospective students do have to fill out an application to be included in the lottery for 7th or 9th grade). When I got home, I discovered that Lucy had broken into the hall closet, extracted the brand new bag of smelly-beef-jerky-like doggie treats, and consumed the entire contents. Evidence of her misdeeds was scattered around the living room and in the air -- the place stank like preserved dog treats, and I actually aired out the apartment despite the fact that it was in the single digits outside.

When she's done this kind of thing before, I also found little piles of doggie vomit. This time, she was just really thirsty -- all that salt, I guess. I expected her to get sick from it all, but unless today is a really delayed reaction to her misadventures, she never did.

Wes thought my punishment of "no dog treats for a week" to be a bit harsh. I can see I'll need to be bad cop when it comes to handling Oliver.
