My dear friend Kim wrote a beautiful post about motherhood and Mother's Day. She and I have had different experiences coming to motherhood and our feelings about our lives afterwards (though we both, to be clear, love our children and being moms), but she captures well the way young children see their moms and the way many women view motherhood and their own moms once they are grown women and moms themselves.
On this, my second Mother's Day with a child on the outside, I say as I do every year, Happy Mother's Day to my own mom, a kind, patient, endlessly loving woman who taught me, along with so many other things, how to be a good mom (I hope) to my own little man. I love you.
