- I could be upset that my garage is flooded, the guest apartment bare and unusable, and my house full of misplaced furniture. Instead (as Wes puts it), I'm thankful for the opportunity to redecorate the guest apartment -- and harass Wes to get the unused furniture out of the house.
- I could be upset that my house is completely filthy and seems even more so with the gray skies of winter. Instead, I'm thankful that I'm completely done with classes and have some time to clean as much as possible before the baby comes.
- I could be upset that it took me to very last day of the semester -- last Friday -- to finish my schoolwork for the fall. Instead, I'm thankful that it's done (done!), and so far, I have two A's on my transcript. The third one, well, we'll see.
- I could be upset upset that I'm still pregnant, waddling around with my sore back and swollen belly. Instead, I'm thankful that I'm pregnant, that the baby is still moving (though a little less each day), and that I don't have a premie to worry about.
- I could be upset that there are virtually no Christmas decorations in my house. Instead, I am thankful for the extra time I've spent with Ollie, the extra rest I've gotten as a result, and the fact that I won't have to take much down after Christmas! Ditto for Christmas cookies (who needs the calories?) and Christmas shopping for Wes (as he put is, he's getting me a new guest apartment, and I'm getting him a new garage).
I guess being thankful is just about how you look at things.
