I had a birthday a few weeks ago. Birthdays aren't really big in our house, especially mine, since I'm usually the one who does the celebrating for others'. But it was a nice day. I got a few cards -- one from my paternal grandmother, one from a friend from Charlottesville, a friendly note from our financial planner, and an card from Southwest Airlines with a beach scene on the front. Ah, those who know and love me best :)
I heard from all of my family the day of and had a few friends over to share cake while Wes worked a shift. Wes got home around midnight, and I woke up to flowers, chocolates (and promises he doesn't intend to keep -- no wait), and a sweet card.
So I'm 33 now. I've been with Wes since I was 21, a wife since I was 25, a mom since I was 29. Who knows who or what I'll be by the time I'm 35 (not quite a PhD, probably), but hopefully, I will be as happy as I am now.
