A future in medicine?

Wes gave a Powerpoint presentation last week to his residency class. He had mentioned how great his department chair's presentations are, how he segues easily from lecture to video to slides, and he also talked about how a lot of professional presenters use breaker slides -- something totally unrelated to the subject matter, and often very funny, just to break up the presentation. We had joked that Wes should use some funny Lucy pictures as his breaker slides, even the videos of her taste tests. So when Wes asked me for help on some aspects of his Powerpoint slides, I reminded him of this. We even took this picture (a continuation of Lucy's medical education, which began here) to include in it.

So I'm at a gathering of Wes's colleagues last night, sitting around drinking and talking, and I asked how everyone liked the slides. Wes had said people laughed, but I thought it would be fun to see what they thought. I was a little surprised when one of the guys there asked, "Who's Lucy?" Several more baffled faces revealed that the joke was on me -- Wes took the slides out before giving the presentation. Why he felt the need to entertain my sense of helpfulness or lie about using them, I don't know. But I figure if his classmates didn't get to enjoy them, you all should. Doesn't she look like a doctor posing for a formal photo? The straight on shot, the look of seriousness...
