Obama Drama

Tuesday night was pretty exciting around here. While the rest of the country was watching election returns on NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, or (gasp) Fox News, we were listening to them outside our condo building. The Obama rally was literally two blocks from our apartment, and we could see the crowds gathered between the two buildings across the street from here. We hosted the aforementioned election night party and had a wonderful time, though I was exhausted and ready for bed well before the acceptance and concession speeches (as was Ollie, though he didn't hesitate to just conk out on the nearest available shoulder).

Political stances aside, I am excited by how this election has galvanized the nation. Especially among people my age, there seems to be a renewed interested in politics, government, and the nation's future. Decidedly Obama will make many decisions that people don't agree with, and all will not be magically fixed because the ruling party flopped. But maybe, just maybe, the excitement generated by this election and our new president elect will make our country just a little stronger in the long run.
