A walk on the rainy side

When the rain finally slowed this afternoon, the family went for a walk. And yes, even Oliver walked. We just went to the park and back, but with a 19-month-old, that's a piece (as they say in Wes's mountain home). Lucy was very excited to go out, and we were happy she finally did her business -- several times. Oliver was wary of the water and his squishy shoes, but he obliged us.

This ditch in the park is normally bone dry. I've never seen any water sitting in it.

Lucy found two of these little guys -- baby moles, maybe -- on the side of the ditch. We weren't sure at first if they were rats or opossums or what. Lucy sniffed them vigorously but was not at all interested in doing them any harm. Sweet girl. Oliver was likewise fascinated but fortunately kept their distance. Hope they are okay in all this rain!

When we got home, Oliver and I took off our soaked shoes and socks and put our feet in the run-off. It was cool but lovely.

There's something special about rainwater. Or maybe I'm just saying that because we don't get much. And I hope you're not getting too much!

Cool about the baby moles, and that they survived the encounter :-)

Hope things went well with the tube insertion! Thanks for your visit to my blog today.
