Ping

I learned an interesting trick when we were having internet troubles at our old apartment. If you're trying to find out if your connection is good, you can "ping" a website through the C prompt. It's kind of like calling up a site and seeing if it answers back. I'd like to do that with my blog sometimes -- just ping to find out who's reading. I know my sister reads, my parents occassionally, some former coworkers in Virginia, and -- much to my utter delight -- two friends here in Chicago (yeah for Greek food -- we had a great time!). Wes never really does, but I like to tell myself it's because he hears it all anyway and was there for most of it.
