Last night, I did three new things. First, I accepted someone's invitation to dinner, even though it was the weekend and Wes is working all weekend and I hadn't planned to go out. I always seem to say no to such invitations and just cloister myself for the weekend, developing into the hermit I really am. But I went, and I had a lovely time. Then, we went for sushi. I have never tried sushi and always assumed I wouldn't like it -- but I did! And now I want more of it -- which is okay, since it's pretty healthy. And third, I used chopsticks -- though badly -- to eat it.
I'm sure my mother, who lived for a year in Japan and enjoy Japanese fare, is groaning to realize it took me to try sushi or use chopsticks, but there it is. It's not everyday we try truly new things. Friday was one.

I sympathize with you on the lack of adventure in our daily lives..the lack of trying something new. You are right - we are in ruts.
I had my first California roll in high school when a trendy friend made some...I had no idea at the time that it would be come so hot! It just thought it was weird in general - good but weird - but then this describes my friend's family to a T.
I have been sitting here trying to discover what new thing I tried recently...Well I made stuffed mushrooms yesterday and a cool salad with Carne Asada. I never cook for anyone but hubby because I have a fear of serving people crappy food. But I took a risk yesterday and did it. It turned out well!
