Soccer Fan
A college intern volunteering at our school commented last year about how much teachers do in one day. Our Finding Time for Fitness schedule was, not surprisingly, what prompted this. We do not have a gym at our school, but we do have a lot of overweight, out of shape students. So last year, we set up a schedule that, while the weather was warm enough, we would shorten classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and spend the last hour of the school day getting exercise with the girls. Some people walked, other jogged, some played basketball, other tennis. Today was our first day for the fall (some rain and standarized testing prohibited us from starting sooner), and I ended up with soccer. Fortunately, one of our tech guys is the main person in charge, and I'm just helping. I was amused to see how much I enjoyed it. I was very up front with the girls about my lack of ball handling skills (of any kind, not just the feet). But I was jogging and kicking and throwing my butt out to stop the ball. And even though I stink, they could see I was having fun. So they did, too.

So glad to hear you are continuing to stretch your skills and abilities and haven't surrendered to the intimidating sphere. Not only is excercise good for the body, but laughter, from the joy of sport, is good for the soul.
