Nashville has many nicknames: Music City, the buckle of the Bible Belt, and -- I learned last November -- the Athens of the South. Nashville evidently took this to heart and built a full-size replica of the Parthenon in Centennial Park, the only one of its kind (can you image?...). It is imposing, and rather unexpected, in the middle of a big, green park with little else to distinguish it (other than some really cool double swings). There is an art gallery inside, which we passed up due to the wonderful weather outside and a tired baby in the stroller.

I love the Parthenon! "Unexpected" is right, but somehow it seems to work. Can't wait til you guys are back down South.
